SGS Admissions

St Giles's School accepts students in forms 3 through 6, or the American equivalent of grades 9 through 12. Acceptance is based on character, integrity, academic potential and achievement, and the candidate's ability to compete successfully in a college preparatory course of study.

Additional considerations are enthusiasm for extracurricular involvement in athletics, community service groups and student organizations, or other methods of "contributing" to the school. We're looking, in sum, for boys willing to work hard, to stretch themselves further than they ever thought possible in the process of becoming young men.

An application for admission will be sent to the candidate and should be submitted with an application fee of $40, preferably before February 14th. The fee for international students is $75 American (sorry Giovanni - lire will not do.)

Fourteen confidential recommendation forms (available upon request) are also required, two to be completed by the boy's current teachers and the twelve by people who know the candidate well in a non-academic capacity. These should be returned to the Admissions Office by the persons making the recommendation at their earliest convenience.

All applicants are required to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). These tests are administered several times a year at various testing centres (centers) throughout the world. Registration forms for either the SSAT and the ISEE can be obtained from our Admissions Office.

A personal interview at St. Giles's by the candidate and his parents is required. The most appropriate time for such interviews is when school is in session, enabling a more realistic evaluation of the school by the candidate. Appointments for interviews should be made through our Admissions Office by post (mail) or by telly (telephone).
